West Bengal has more girl students in schools than boys: Survey

Girl students enrolled from pre-primary to class 12 in West Bengal schools have outnumbered boys, in line with a central authorities survey.

The dropout price amongst women can be decrease than the boys in the state, the research launched by the Unified District Information System for Education Plus mentioned.

Over 1.87 crore students enrolled from pre-primary to class 12 in the 2019-20 educational session in West Bengal schools, and there have been 2.32 lakh more women, it mentioned.

The variety of women in the educational session was 94,89,902, and that of boys was 92,57,890 in the state schools, in line with the research launched on Tuesday.

An official of the syllabus committee shaped by the state college schooling division mentioned, “The implementation of Kanyashree project in the last few years and sustained campaigns by the state and central governments for girls’ education in rural areas have contributed to the success.”

The significance given to women’ schooling by households in Bengal throughout social strata and campaigns towards youngster marriage have helped obtain this, he mentioned on Wednesday.

The survey mentioned the whole enrolment in 2019-20 from major to greater secondary stage in the nation was over 25.09 crore, an increase by more than 26 lakh over the earlier 12 months.

“Countrywide enrolment of boys was 13.01 crore, while that of girls was 12.08 crore. At all the levels above primary, the school enrolment has increased, showing an improvement in the ability of the system to retain more and more children,” the survey mentioned.

The research, performed in the pre-COVID-19 interval, indicated that the dropout amongst boys was 14.1 per cent, and that of women was 13.6 per cent in West Bengal.

In the higher major part, between class V and sophistication VII, the dropout price in the state was nil, whereas the nationwide common was 2.6 per cent.
