Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal and a few of his crew members had been arrested for allegedly flouting COVID-19 restrictions by taking pictures for a movie at Banur in Punjab’s Patiala district, police stated on Saturday.

They had been later released on bail, police stated.

A police official stated over 100 individuals had gathered on the taking pictures website in a village in Banur, whilst a weekend lockdown was in drive in Punjab.

Police arrested Grewal and a few crew members from the spot, the official stated.

A case below part 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC, related sections of the Epidemic Diseases Act and the Disaster Management Act has been registered at Banur police station.

A number of days in the past, actor Jimmy Shergill and a few crew members had been booked for allegedly defying COVID-19 restrictions whereas taking pictures for an online sequence in Ludhiana.
