Primary education should be in Marathi, says Maharashtra governor


Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Saturday appealed folks in the state to make sure that youngsters obtain major education in Marathi. Speaking at an occasion on the event of Marathi Language Day, Koshyari mentioned Maharashtra should pledge to offer major education in Marathi to youngsters.

`Marathi Bhasha Din’ is well known yearly on February 27, the beginning anniversary of poet and Jnanpith awardee late V V Shirwadkar. While English should be mastered, one should take satisfaction in one’s mom tongue, the governor mentioned.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeraysaid his authorities was working to preserve and develop Marathi. “Easy and meaningful Marathi words should be used in official work,” he mentioned. The authorities will arrange a “books village” in each district, Thackeray introduced.
