Filmmaker Bassam Tariq, identified for his work on Riz Ahmed-led film Mogul Mowgli, is in negotiations with Marvel Studios to direct the movie adaptation of the favored comedian Blade. Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is set to play the titular vampire hunter.
According to Variety, if Tariq comes on board, he would be the sixth individual of color to direct a film for Marvel Studios, becoming a member of Ryan Coogler, Chloe Zhao, Destin Cretton, Taika Waititi and Nia DaCosta.
