Filmmaker Anand Tiwari describes himself as a romantic at coronary heart however says he’s nervous to know the way his brief for the Netflix anthology Feels Like Ishq will likely be obtained by a far youthful era.

Tiwari is a identified determine within the movie trade as he has straddled each the worlds of performing and directing. As an actor, he has featured in motion pictures reminiscent of Udaan and Go Goa Gone. He ventured into directing with 2018’s Vicky Kaushal and Angira Dhar-starrer Love per Square Foot and later helmed Amazon present Bandish Bandits.

For Feels Life Ishq, Tiwari has directed the Star Host section, which chronicles the assembly — and the eventual bonding — between two strangers, Tara and Aditya, performed by actors Simran Jehani and Rohit Saraf, respectively.

The director stated that regardless of his earlier work, he nonetheless doesn’t know the “key” to make an excellent romantic comedy.

“I don’t know the important thing to an excellent rom-com. You say what you are feeling like and hope it resonates. My mortal worry is that at some point I’ll inform my story and no person will care about it. So I’m in a rush to inform as many stories as I probably can. Somewhere, I need to inform the story of love for the era I belong to.

“This film is important to me because I am right now telling the story of love, not for the millennials but Gen Z and I don’t know whether my assumptions of love and relationships will resonate with them. I am nervous (to see) whether a 15-year-old today will resonate with the love story of Tara and Aditya,” Tiwari instructed PTI.

The 38-year-old director stated Star Host aligned together with his gaze of love and romance. In the complexities and drama of relationships, Tiwari typically finds amusement.

“I have always liked telling stories that question romance and love. I see a lot of humour in romance and I like to engage with it. Sometimes you take romance or life a little too seriously. I find romance not just in ‘romantic’ relationships but also in everyday life,” Tiwari stated.

He got here on board Feels Like Ishq when he was approached by the producers, Seher Aly Latif and Shivani Saran of Mutant Films.

The director stated Feels Like Ishq provided him not solely the chance to relate a love story but additionally to shoot it in Mahabaleshwar, which was a much-needed respite to him after the coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown final yr.

“When you see the story of Aditya and Tara, you will notice each are wanting to realize two fully various things. The try is that they rub off on one another somewhat bit. Without overtly making an attempt to take action, educate a lesson or two to one another.

“I was also missing the hills thanks to the lockdown. So we decided to bring all our fantasies together and tell this story,” he added.

Featuring six modern-day love stories, Feels Like Ishq looks as if an exception in Bollywood, which for many years thrived on bigger than life romances however has ignored the style recently.

Tiwari believes that although there are usually not sufficient romantic comedies being made at this time, it is going to take one good film to revive the style.

“I consider, like trend, storytelling additionally has a seasonal high quality to it. It’s good we do not make too many romantic comedies now as a result of a number of the filmmakers are barely older to the era that will likely be watching the rom-com.

“When you have filmmakers from the age group which is now in their mid-20s to late-20s, when they get an opportunity to tell their stories, they will be far more true to the world that will be watching them.”

Tiwari stated he has written a school love story that he’s by no means going to make as a result of “it is not relevant anymore.”

“Love stories have changed thanks to social media… So I don’t know how people in their teens romance anymore. My voice is not authentic. But it will come back, not just romantic comedies but romantic dramas. It is just about time,” he added.

Produced by Mutant Films and Awesomeness TV, Feels Like Ishq is scheduled to be launched on Friday.
